Project Summary

Your gift will empower women and girls in Nigeria to learn, lead and thrive in our digital world. In Nigeria, more opportunities and resources are needed to ensure that many women and girls gain the digital skills that connect them with greater opportunities, leaving them marginalized and disadvantaged. With your support, we will work to ensure that the women and girls in our programs can access technology and data and receive training to become digitally literate to be valuable members of society. We are Crypto Empowerment Initiative with the aim to empower girls and women through skills acquisition. We have another organization called Helpers Social Development Foundation

The problems

The gender digital divide is a global issue that negatively affects women and girls everywhere, especially those less privileged and marginalized. Digital exclusion impacts many areas of women's and girls' lives, limiting their access to information and education and equal opportunities to participate in our increasingly digital societies. The COVID-19 pandemic moved many aspects of our lives online, making women and girls' lack of connectivity even more alarming.

The Solution

With our local partners in Nigeria, we can provide women and girls with access to data and technology and the training they need to become digitally literate. We are building a new computer lab at a local community center where we will have 10 computers. Many women and girls we work with are unemployed and have little or no access to the Internet. Those that do often need to gain the skills to navigate it. Providing women and girls with digital access means that they will stay caught up in their education and will be able to gain the skills they need to develop successful careers. Along with general computer skills we will be educating about cryptocurrency. Our curriculum will include setting up wallets, making transactions, NFTs, and some basics about DeFi. We will also be educating them about the dangers and risks of scams and other bad actors.

The Long-Term Impact

Bridging the digital gender divide is essential to ensure that women and girls can fully participate in our increasingly digital future. Digital literacy has resulted in higher earning potential and greater job opportunities. Women will also be able to access essential tools, how to create cryptocurrency wallets and receive funds. By giving women and girls access to digital resources and the skills to use them, they can gain the power to shape their own futures and influence change in their communities.
