Research impact of new uses for a better governance transparency.
Tldr. Research the creation and impact of a marketplace where delegates and stakeholders can transparently bid for more governance delegation or support a delegate to enhance transparency and participation.
Bribing and lobbying are two distinct practices that have an impact in governance and policy making. The impact can be compared and contrasted to measure when they are postive or negative. Decentralization will only be enhanced when more transparency and more participation is introduced.
The Gobying project is researching the ramifications of creating a market mechanism for delegation within any decentralized protocol governance. This research includes several phases, beginning with preliminary literature research and analysis that lead to the development of an impact document detailing the hypothesis, data, analysis and conclusions to then create a Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
This MVP aims to create a marketplace where delegates can allocate a pre specified amount of tokens or USD to be distributed among all the votes that are assigned or delegated within a defined timeframe. Additionally, there will be a market were other participants can allocate their own capital to support a delegatee (directly sending public gratifications or) allocating this funds being distributed to all delegated votes within a set period.
The research encompasses an economic and incentives structure analysis to assess the potential benefits and drawbacks of such a system.
Our thesis posits that enhanced transparency in the protocol will prevent the formation of a clandestine bribery market that could steer the protocol towards undisclosed objectives. Furthermore, the protocol will increase the participation of token holders in the governance process, thereby promoting decentralization. A final predicted outcome is the evolution of the delegate authority.

Where are we now/recent milestones
- Research started and first draft for the protocol architecture: https://github.com/Kanoopz/gobying/tree/main
How will you share progress? • The community can track the repository progress on Github • We will develop the front end web page for the protocol in more advanced stages • X/Twitter spaces • Research impact analysis
How does the Project support public goods? Enhancing governance transparency and the utility of tokens through participatory involvement in research and open development.
What are funds for? Lead and researcher + Backend dev + Frontend dev 4 month / 10 hours week work per contributor. $40 USD per hour rate $40 * 10hours * 3contributors * 12 weeks = $14,400usd
Next steps
- Enhance protocol architecture and its development
- Research literature on bribing and lobbying to create an analysis on impacts to develop conclusions on possible outcomes from these market dynamics
