The Immigrant Freedom Fund pays cash bonds set by Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) to help people secure their release from cruel detention conditions in Aurora, Colorado.
The bond fund aims to pay bonds so that no one remains detained simply because they cannot pay the arbitrary cash bond set by the immigration court system.
The bond fund is interested in exploring use cases for blockchain technology to fundraise, pay and store funds. The bond funds are mostly revolving, as when a person completes their immigration case, the bond payment is returned to the fund. We hope to continue to build a fund that can sustain and pay for the release of anyone who requires it. While this fund co-exists along other bond funds throughout the US, this would be the first bond fund to experiment with leveraging blockchain technology to operate.
