Community-led AMM JediSwap on Starknet features onchain data, processed $300M+ volume, 1.5M users, and focuses on permissionless development, transparency tools, and educational content. Mesh Finance leads with a decentralized model.

Note: Donations for this grant are for development only. Do not expect absolutely anything in return.

Progress since the Gitcoin OSS beta round

  • We started working on smart contracts to bring contribution data onchain to make permissionless work more efficient
  • JediSwap became the #1 protocol on Starknet by TVL
  • JediSwap processed $300M+ in trading volume
  • More than 1.5M users have used JediSwap
  • To keep pushing in terms of transparency and making it easy for users to track their positions, we launched JediSwap analytics dashboard
  • We published a new article to educate builders about Cairo
  • We integrated Argent's web wallet to make onboarding easy for new users

Some highlights about JediSwap:

  • JediSwap is driving this idea of permissionless work. There is not a single employee at JediSwap. Everything is done by the community and its 500+ contributors.
  • JediSwap is one of the first protocols to receive a grant from Starkware. JediSwap is an all-time #1 project on Gitcoin Grant from the funders count.
  • JediSwap is making human coordination efficient by building tools like onchain contribution attribution and permissionless incentives

What is JediSwap?

JediSwap is a 100% community-led, fully composable, and permissionless AMM on Starknet. Using JediSwap, you can swap assets or earn yields on your assets by providing liquidity. Builders can build more advanced applications on top of JediSwap without asking for anyone's permission. JediSwap is completely open source for anyone else to use in any way they want.

JediSwap is built on StarkNet - a Validity Rollup on Ethereum enabling unlimited scalability to web3 while relying on the security of Ethereum.

JediSwap is an entirely community-driven project. Independent open-source contributors do everything, including development, design, research, and marketing. Anyone can come and start contributing to JediSwap by joining JediSwap Discord.

Who is behind it?

The Mesh Finance community is leading the development of JediSwap, which has been building in DeFi for the last 24 months. Mesh has been deploying and experimenting with multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, and almost all top DeFi protocols.

Mesh community is bottom-up; anyone can start contributing and become a leader as they contribute. There is no power concentration. Mesh has developed a system to measure all kinds of contributions, including development, design, community management, growth, etc. Compared to most DAOs, Mesh is not just decentralizing governance but enabling operations and execution in a community-driven way.

Why Starknet?

Our mission has been bringing web3 to everyone in the world. We believe the next wave of crypto users will come because of various non-financial applications like onchain games, cheaper transactions, easy-to-use interfaces, and better security. Starknet makes all of this possible with hyperscaling using a recursive proof system, account abstraction, and validity proofs. The developer ecosystem is also very unique on Starknet. We have been building on StarkNet since October'21 and have seen a 20x increase in the number of builders building on StarkNet. What else is special?

While building JediSwap, we are also publishing multiple public goods for DeFi and DAOs. Some of the published public goods include

  • StarkNet React library - it saves hours of work for any builder building a frontend app on StarkNet
  • Base64 encoding in Cairo - a primitive that can make generative art possible on Starknet
  • DeFi Pooling(coming soon) - Enabling access to L1 apps by batching txs on StarkNet
  • On-chain credentials for DAO contributor
  • A telegram alert bot for Discord communities and contributors to make coordination easy
  • Permissionless salary contracts to bring fair and transparent incentives to organisations

Roadmap

  • JediSwap V2 targeting better capital efficiency and execution price
  • Onchain contributor profile
  • Integrations - focus on building integrations with 50+ dapps
  • Launch DeFi Pooling as a public good
  • Productionise DAO tools to make them usable by any community
