Restoration of a historic palm greenhouse damaged by a rocket attack, including structural repairs and interior renovation, supported by local citizens and the Asterias Cactus Foundation.

In the spring of 2024, a rocket attack damaged all the greenhouses of our botanical garden, so we plan to start restoring the palm greenhouse, an architectural monument and a unique structure that houses 150-year-old cycads, bananas and other exotic plants that came to Odesa from Australia, America, Africa and other parts of the world back in the days of Professor Ray.

At the first stage, it is planned to replace the metal structures and cover the greenhouse with polycarbonate. At the second stage, the interior of the greenhouse will be repaired.

Our botanical garden is actively supported in the restoration of greenhouses by the concerned citizens of Odesa and members of the Asterias Cactus Foundation, who have already restored three greenhouses with a total area of almost 500 square meters from June 2013 to September 2015.
