Seed Protocol, built by JournoDAO, aims to provide a foundational piece of web3 public goods infrastructure, originally designed to help journalists and creators protect their work in the digital landscape through a mechanism called a Seed.
Seed Protocol will increase demand on Ethereum mainnet and L2s through this new use case, specifically using smart contracts as tools for greater sense-making, content and data validation online.
A Seed serves as the immutable identifier for your content, existing as a hash on the Ethereum network. This hash represents not the content itself but the intent behind it—whether that be a post, an image, or any form of digital expression. Seed Protocol also uses Versions and Attestations to power the protocol and create a trail of immutable knowledge for each media asset that reaches beyond the creator’s network and into the collective onchain ecosystem.
The beauty of a Seed lies in its permanence; as long as the Ethereum network thrives, so does your content's footprint.
We wish to secure funding for the following:
-
To create bounties for web3 devs to build using Seed Protocol using Bountycaster, or a similar bounty tool.
-
To create bounties for product agnostic DevRels to support our GTM for Seed and PermaPress (a dApp built by JournoDAO that runs on top of Seed) by helping the core team build out developer documentation and workshops.
-
Retro funding (25% of grant allocation) for our core dev team who began building Seed Protocol and PermaPress in Q4 2023.
Seed Protocol is a participatory ecosystem and was designed with openness at its core. Anyone can contribute by adding new Versions to Seeds or by contributing attestations to enrich existing Versions. This participatory approach ensures a diverse and vibrant content ecosystem that grows organically over time. Seed Protocol is a public good and we hope will become the foundational tool for journalists and creators seeking to fully embrace a decentralized future for media production.
