Creating a decentralized protocol for managing social interactions and trust via social tokens and identities tailored for community-building, without needing coding skills, to foster value exchange and collaboration.

Social Layer is a social token protocol to record and programme social interactions, relations and trust for decentralized society.

Social Layer is an on-chain Protocol for Social Capital that enables the discovery, utilization, circulation, and composition of Social Tokens and represents Social Identities across communities in different contexts.

This protocol defines general DID access standards, social token attributes and metadata standards, as well as the standards for merging internal tokens within the protocol and wrapping external tokens within the protocol, enabling support for communities to define their own tech Infrastructure.

The product prototype built upon this protocol is user-friendly, allowing community members to effortlessly define, send, and receive tokens without the need for coding. This facilitates the convenient recording of personal achievements within the community and exchanging corresponding incentives.

Social Layer

Mission

We are building an open, decentralized, permissionless, programmable social value network to enable general public to create and exchange their own values and meanings that matter to them and connect them. We believe this will give rise to a web3 network of trust for societal collaboration and coordination.

Why Social Token Important?

How to define a reciprocal value system? In years of community living and practice, we've discovered that the sustainability of many communities is not solely dependent, or even not dependent at all, on the community's economic capital. Instead, it is more about trust, reciprocity, community culture, emotions, and so on. Within communities, we are more inclined to enhance mutual understanding and reciprocity with others through collaboration, sharing, and initiating activities.

How we Approach?

For two years now, we have been iterating the DApp to match the real needs of our users as we provide this infrastructure to the community. At the same time our protocols have iterated and evolved in the process.

Building For Communities

We provide community infrastructure to those communities that share our philosophy, aiming to summarise the experience of community building through practice and support more communities with public goods.
