Techstation, an Italian non-profit, boosts digital skills through courses, hackathons, and events, focusing on blockchain education in high schools and seeking financial stability beyond inconsistent government grants.

What is Techstation?

Techstation is a non-profit organization founded in 2018 and located in Padua, Italy. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Techstation helps people who want to improve their ๐Ÿ’ป digital skills, each according to their own ๐Ÿ”‘ needs and abilities.

Operating in an urban environment facing significant challenges, Techstation has established itself as a hub for social innovation, ๐Ÿš€ leveraging technology to drive projects and services for the common good. ๐ŸŒ

Through collaborative efforts among associations, professionals, startups, and public administration, Techstation aims to create ๐Ÿค opportunities and address ๐ŸŒฑ local needs.

An ecosystem to ๐Ÿš€ discover, use, and ๐Ÿ”ฌ experiment together with digital technologies. ๐ŸŒ

Since 2022 Techstation is, probably, the only organization in Italy that is actively engaged in promoting Blockchain knowledge to state high schools.๐Ÿ’ก

Why do we need your support?

We need stability in our efforts to promote web3 education in high schools and make a bigger impact. ๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸŒ

Techstation is currently ๐Ÿ’ฏ 100% dependent on ๐Ÿฆ ๐Ÿ’ฐ governmental grants at the ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Province, ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Country, and ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ European Union level. These grants are our ๐Ÿš‘ lifeline support! However, they come with many strings attached, are discontinuous and not blockchain aware. This limits our ability to reach a wider audience in local schools and provide education and mentorship in the blockchain universe. ๐Ÿ˜ข

Coding has tremendous educational value, especially in high schools. We have successfully done it in the past, and now we aim to expand our efforts tenfold. Help us provide continuity and make a difference by supporting us! ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ’ป Let's empower the next generation with valuable skills for the future! ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ”‘

KuoriciniDAO and our first Gitcoin GR14/GR15

KuoriciniDAO began as an educational project to create a blockchain-based feedback system. Developed by three Techstation team members, KuoriciniDAO became a Gitcoin Grant (GR14/15) focused mainly on coding. KuoriciniDAO aimed to showcase practical blockchain coding through a YouTube course and live updates.

From coding to education

Realizing the potential of Gitcoin we decided to apply this grant as Techstation Organisation to focus on more structured blockchain education activities.

Web3 and Blockchain intro in high school

We teamed up with school leaders in Padua to create a ๐Ÿ”— Blockchain introduction course. ๐Ÿ“š We run already in 2 local high schools (ITC P.F. Calvi and IIS G. Valle) providing a non-speculative overview of Blockchain and Web 3.0 topics to help students navigate this cutting-edge technology without focusing on money. ๐Ÿ’ป

The course is structured in 11 fun and engaging two-hour afternoon meetings covering theory, practical elements, and case studies of real blockchain projects. ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“Š Students get course materials and collaborate on Discord for asynchronous learning. In addition we address the risks and scams in the industry. ๐Ÿšจ Our goal is to equip students with the tools ๐Ÿ”ง to navigate the blockchain world independently and with awareness ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ with a special attention to the DYOR lessons for helping students in critical thinking.
