The Black Women Blockchain Council partners with ConsenSys to train 500,000 Black women as Blockchain developers by 2030 through certified programs, starting with architecture and Solidity development courses.

In 2021 Black Women Blockchain Council and ConsenSys signed an initiative to increase the number of Black Women Blockchain Developers to half a million by 2030.  Through this initiative, we will fulfill the demand for blockchain developers by providing certified blockchain programs to the African Diaspora.

Since we announced the initiative we built the Learning Management System (LMS), assembling a team and conducting workshops.   In January 2023 we released the first part of the certified program: the Certified Blockchain Solutions Architect course.  The course focuses on the fundamentals of blockchain including technical fundamentals, how to decipher when to use a blockchain, consensus mechanism, and exposure to blockchain projects/use cases developed by members of the African Diaspora.

We have successfully onboarded students who are currently taking part in the 16-week course.

We are proud to announce that we have graduates who have successfully completed the course and now they are moving on to the next program to learn how to build Solidity.

Certified Blockchain Developer course (launched summer 2023) allows course takers to build and deploy their first smart contract on the Ethereum blockchain, and learn programming and security best practices. Cohorts will learn to set up their own personal blockchain network using tools like Truffles Suite, Remix, and more.

Our goal is that this course will enable many women within the diaspora to obtain knowledge to add to the ecosystem and build financial freedom while helping to close the wealth gap.

But there is more to do!

Soon we will develop a way for our cohorts to transition into Web3 with the knowledge they gained. We want to develop a workforce development program that allows these ladies to get a first-hand understanding of what it is like to work for a web3 company. What will make them successful and add value, skills, interview prep and more.

Accomplishments: *We are chipping away at our goal of half a million black women at 0.03% completion *Five Star Review-Raving reviews from our cohorts.
*4 New partnerships- We continue to partner with several projects and orgs both in web2 and web3 to give access to their members. *Over 100 SM campaigns, *Over 5 podcasts

Gitcoin Round 19 Resource Allocation:

But our challenge continues to be getting the word out to more black women across the globe. So we will dedicate the money raised in this round to hiring a dedicated Marketing and PR team.

Future Resources will go towards:

  1. Making the course accessible to women in the global south.
  2. Adding to the team so we can provide support.  BWBC is a small team of dedicated women but we can't do it alone.  Besides the course, we are also hosting events like the International Women of Blockchain which is giving women in Web3 and Metaverse the chance to be centered, network and create opportunities.  More information can be found at womenofblockchain.org.
  3. We would like to also create career pathways for the cohorts to find jobs after the course.  To do this we have to provide workshops to help build their resumes and prepare them for interviews.
  4. Make the course Free to High School Students
  5. Of course Marketing to as many channels as possible.

That's just the beginning.  We are dedicated and determined and you can rest assured your donations will go 100% toward this project.

Let's make the Ethereum ecosystem as strong as it can be!
