This project will research blockchain adoption in the philanthropic sector and create an open-source framework to improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency, fostering enhanced donor engagement in charitable operations.

📝Project Summary: This project aims to explore and enhance the adoption of blockchain technology in the philanthropic sector by conducting comprehensive research into the expectations, requirements, and challenges faced by charitable organizations.

The goal is to develop an open-source framework that provides actionable insights and best practices for implementing blockchain solutions, ultimately fostering transparency, accountability, and efficiency in charitable operations.

🔬Background and Motivation: The recent study, "Blockchain Technology in Philanthropy: An Inquiry into Transparent and Accountable Giving," highlighted the slow adoption of blockchain technology in the philanthropic sector.

Despite its potential to revolutionize transparency, efficiency, and donor engagement, many charities remain hesitant due to a lack of understanding and resources.

🔍Key Findings: 🧩Only 13.4% of charitable organizations have implemented blockchain technology, with only 9.8% planning future implementations. 🧩Nearly half the charities using blockchain also reported that blockchain use resulted in increased frequency or amount of giving by donors because of enhanced trust in the organization and process of giving. 🧩Blockchain has shown promise in enhancing transparency, reducing administrative costs, and increasing donor trust. Significant barriers exist, including lack of awareness, perceived complexity and risks, and concerns over energy consumption and relevance.

🎯Objectives: 🔎Identify Charitable Sector Needs: • Investigate specific problems charities expect blockchain to solve. • Understand how blockchain tools can align with existing business models and operational needs. 🔎Develop Onboarding Guidelines: • Explore requirements for seamless onboarding, focusing on usability, cost-effectiveness, and integration with current processes/systems. 🔎Create an Open-Source Framework: • Compile findings into a comprehensive framework, including best practices, case studies, and platform analyses. • Make this framework publicly available to support charities and other sectors in adopting blockchain technology.

⚙️Methodology: Survey and Interviews: -Conduct surveys and interviews with a diverse range of charitable organizations to gather insights into their expectations and challenges regarding blockchain adoption.

Case Studies: -Analyze successful blockchain implementations in the philanthropic sector to extract best practices and lessons learned.

Framework Development: -Compile research findings into an open-source framework that includes detailed guidelines, tools, and resources for blockchain adoption.

Dissemination: -Share the framework through webinars, workshops, and collaborative platforms to engage stakeholders and foster community knowledge sharing.

⏰Timeline: Phase 1 (Months 1-2): Conduct surveys and interviews. Phase 2 (Months 3-4): Analyze data and compile case studies. Phase 3 (Months 5-6): Develop and refine the open-source framework of reference. Phase 4 (Month 7): Disseminate findings and engage stakeholders. Phase 5 (Month 9-12): Make it a Public Good.

🏁Expected Outcomes: • Increased awareness and understanding of blockchain benefits among charitable organizations. • A publicly available framework that provides actionable insights for blockchain adoption. • Enhanced transparency, efficiency, and donor engagement in the philanthropic sector.

This project will provide the philanthropic sector with the knowledge needed to harness blockchain technology's potential, promoting a more transparent and accountable approach to charitable giving. It will also provide builders points of reference for what is required from the charity sector depending on area of impact.

By creating a robust framework and fostering collaboration, I aim to pave the way for transformative change in both the charitable and scientific communities
