Community initiative for democratizing science through monthly meetups, providing talks and resources to engage beginners, funded by donations for refreshments and cleaning, with plans for university partnerships and mentorship programs.

Decentralized Science NYC is a community-driven initiative that aims to democratize the scientific process through IRL monthly meetups.

Since our inception, we have hosted five events, attracting 50 to 200 attendees each time, highlighting the growing interest in the community. All talks are recorded and made available online (desci.nyc), ensuring that valuable knowledge is shared beyond the event itself.

We are particularly committed to engaging beginners and helping them get excited about the field, providing them with the necessary skills and confidence to contribute to scientific endeavors.

At each event, we provide pizza and soft drinks. We generally secure event spaces for free but need professional cleaners to come in after as a condition. 100% of the money raised will be allocated towards pizza, drinks, and cleaning fees.

As we continue to grow we have several exciting initiatives planned for the future of Decentralized Science NYC:

-Establishing partnerships with local universities, research institutions, and industry experts to foster collaboration and create new opportunities for our members.

-Developing a mentorship program that connects experienced researchers and professionals with newcomers to provide guidance, support, and inspiration.
