Creating an NFT to record and track individual carbon offset activities, integrating with a Korean VCM, to simplify participation in GHG reduction for users.

To reduce GHGs, Voluntary Carbon Markets (VCM) are getting considered to play a crucial role. Also, tokenized carbon credits have been tried out for addressing immature VCM’s issues. Those VCM and Tokenization activities are still undergoing transformation by reflecting the consensus from many participating parties. However, for individuals who are eager to act on the climate crisis and get onboard on carbon credit offsetting, its ecosystem is hard to approach and all fragmented. They get lost during hopping on different VCMs and tokenization projects and eventually lose their motivation and appetite. To mitigate those problems, we propose the first phase of our project: I. We design a NFT that will hold the individual’s offset activity record data, including but not limited to Web2 based VCM as well as tokenized carbon credit. II. We will work with a VCM company in Korea to design an interface between our system and the conventional Web2 based marketplace. III. Individuals, once mint a NFT via our system, can use it as a passport for GHG reduction act, and through our system they can recall all the tract records they made.
