Background
LexDAO is a club of legal engineering professionals united to bring the traditional legal settlement layer to code and coded agreements to the masses. We believe that everyone deserves access to justice in a quick and efficient manner. If legal services were easier to use, verify, and enforce, we could live in a fairer world.
Our mission is to research, develop and evangelize first-class legal methods and blockchain protocols that secure rules and promises with code rather than trust. Over the past few years the organization has done so through a combination of thought leadership, education material, speaking engagements, application development, and research. We are obsessed with "open source legal engineering" and working with "public goods for the good of mankind."
Arbitrum Chain
LexDAO has been dabbling with Unlock Protocol from a cross-chain perspective for well over a year. Our main membership token is housed in an Unlock contract and we have explored utilizing other more efficient L2s as places for building out key products that add to the benefits members get from participating in the DAO. We were previously using Unlock on Optimism for POAPs for our StudyGroup sessions with well over 150 tokens minted and have a deployed contract on Arbitrum that was intended to be used for ticketing and attendance at events hosted by LexDAO.
Our plan is to use the Arbitrum contract as the event ticket platform for the upcoming MCON III event in Detroit. As part of this we are creating detailed metadata and soulbound tickets that serve as both proof of attendance and a digital souvenir for those who participate. Based on our past events with MetaCartel, specifically at ETH Denver (which was partially sponsored by Unlock), and current interest in our upcoming roster, we expect to have significant attendance and participation in Detroit.
We are also exploring ways to implement a Continued Learning Education (CLE) program and certification of DAO Governance course using the Unlock Platform. That project is under active development by our membership team.
