OpSci is an open source non-profit that builds community and develops software for digital scholarly coordination and research communication.
The project was founded in 2021 with a focus on distributed archival and indexing for resilient open science data. The project has also funded web fellowships, open science software development grants, and runs an annual innovation conference around the theme of "Decentralized Science" (DeSci).
You can learn more at https://opsci.xyz. The project has been previously funded by Protocol Labs, Gitcoin, Mask Network, and the Ocean Protocol.
The OpSci ecosystem is composed of:
-
Commons - a decentralized data commons that offers free archival for datasets.
-
Verse - a DeSci Society registry that links verifiable impact with funding streams on-chain.
-
Fellowship - a permission-less grant program that provides a stipend for researchers at all levels performing work at the intersection of Web3 and DeSci.
-
DeSci Denver - an annual DeSci innovation festival that we organize with partners and the community, such as the Science Commons Initiative, SCRF, and the Foresight Institute.
