Organic Technology Extension and Promotion of Initiative Centre (OTEPIC) is a Community Based Organization born out of passion for sharing knowledge and innovative approaches on permaculture, renewable energies technologies and peace initiatives on empowerment of women and youth groups in Kitale Kenya. Since 2008 we have taught more than 40,000 farmers in permaculture, peace education, renewable energy and provision to 7,500 people with clean drinking water, community library to support children and adult to access the information OTEPIC, We created three demonstration gardens in the poorest neighborhoods of Kitale -a learning garden in Kaloleni, - Amani Garden in Bidii-to inspire our communities with perspectives and teach them community-based approaches to sustainable development. -Upendo farm-permaculture centre to offer intensive programs for teachers, We have planted 11,000 trees at 5 schools. The street feeding program, that helps 150 homeless children, gets its food from the gardens as well as supermarket donations of food that would otherwise be thrown away, OTEPIC has an orphanage centre Tabasamu children home with 16 children’s, where orphans and young children are finding a home, food and opportunity to study to become a better responsible persons who understand how to live in harmony with nature. Mushroom cultivation, biogas digesters, land fertility, tree planting, childcare, composting, compost toilets and creating water retention landscapes training are carried out "Nobody goes hungry anymore, not even at the end of the dry season. Our children are healthy because they get a diverse diet. And the money that we save helps to buy their school books” Nancy Opele farmer Currently, Otepic is building a conference centre which will host trainers and volunteers. We want to create this space in a sustainable way. Our project is creating a vision for a Permaculture School in Kenya and Eastern Africa. (a place to train teachers to train own communities). The school will be a model for social and ecological sustainability, a place to reinstall the African dream of nature, hospitality and abundance, a training site to explore and share the knowledge of regional autonomy in water, food and energy supply, an Ecovillage including a Permaculture Training Centre and a guest house for international visitors, youth exchange and volunteers. Due to a lot of number of people who wish to be trained on intensive Permaculture courses, we need various facilities toward achieving our goal. OTEPIC Kenya peace project is building a conference facility, with kitchen and accommodation. The planned building will be used by the entire communities, additionally it will serve as a multi-purpose area where women or youth groups will have their own space to work on different activities and conduct their weekly meetings. A place to create a forum for sharing of information and experience among various initiatives, it will be designed to facilitate the easy exchange of ideas and collaborative working. Space to think, act and inspire. • -The facility will have the ability to host smaller concurrent meetings. • -There will be a kitchen, rooms for meetings and accommodation for groups.
