Translation

we also take on translation services from DAOs, crypto projects and ecosystems looking to spread education and information in the Pidgin language to make it more accessible to Africans. Our current strategy includes translating major crypto publications such as books, insightful newsletters and research pieces. The Green Pill book and other Regen education resources are part of the things we want to translate into Pidgin for Q3 2023.

Why this Project?

We believe that crypto and web3 have the potential to transform Africa’s economy and society by providing more opportunities, freedom and empowerment to its people. However, there are many barriers and challenges that prevent many Africans from accessing and benefiting from this new technology. Some of these barriers include:

Lack of awareness and education Many Africans are still unaware of what crypto and web3 are, how they work and why they matter. There is also a lot of misinformation and confusion around these topics that create fear and distrust among potential users. Language barrier: Most of the existing crypto content are in English or other foreign languages that many Africans do not speak or understand well. This makes it hard for them to learn and engage with crypto and web3 in relevant ways. Cultural barrier Many Africans have different values, beliefs and preferences than the Western or Asian crypto communities. This makes it hard for them to relate to or resonate with the existing crypto content that may not reflect their context or needs.

What Impact Will This Project Make?

Pidgin Parlour addresses the above problems by creating crypto content that is:

Educational: We explain crypto and web3 concepts in a clear and simple way that pidgin speakers can understand. We also provide practical examples and use cases that show how crypto and web3 can solve real problems or create value for Africans.

Accessible: We use the Pidgin language, which is widely spoken and understood by millions of Africans across different countries. We also use various media formats such as podcasts, newsletters and social media posts that are easy to consume and share.

Cultural: We use local references, humour and stories that make our content more engaging and relatable for our audience. We also showcase the achievements and contributions of African crypto projects and communities that inspire our audience.

How will funds be used?

Content production: This will cover the costs of creating, editing and publishing our content such as podcast episodes, newsletter articles, translations on our publication, and more. This will also cover the costs of hiring freelancers or contractors to help us with content creation.

Content promotion: This will cover the costs of marketing and advertising our content on various platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Clubhouse and more. This will also cover the costs of sponsoring or hosting events, webinars, workshops and giveaways for our audience.
