I am creating a short film that explores Paul Stamets' revolutionary ideas on the connection between mycelium, psychedelics, and ecological consciousness. This film will blend Stamets' insights with various rhythmic cultural practices across human history, illustrating how these elements work together to sustain our environment. The film will highlight the profound relationship between mycelium networks and human cultural practices by merging scientific discourse with artistic expression.
This project offers a transformative perspective on how psychedelics can inspire ecological consciousness and deepen our understanding of sustainability. It will provide a unique narrative that bridges the gap between science and cultural knowledge, showing how human rhythms—like song, dance, and other traditional practices—interact with natural processes. The film aims to inspire viewers to adopt more ecologically conscious lifestyles and appreciate the symbiotic relationship between nature and culture.
I have already recorded Paul Stamets discussing his psychedelic-infused vision of ecological consciousness. To further advance the project, I am running a Gitcoin round to secure additional funding. The animation will be consistent with the style of the other three episodes I have previously created with Stamets. This film is a collaborative effort involving myself (MFA, PhD), filmmaker Aaron Munson, and musician Jon Kawchuk, each bringing their unique expertise to bring this visionary project to life.
By showcasing this intersection of mycelium networks, psychedelics, and human cultural practices, the film will provide a compelling and hopeful narrative about the future of our environment.
