Project History and Description
Radio SpaghettETH started as an community radio using Livepeer decentralized transcoding during ETHRome Hackathon 2023, and was later used to broadcast audio-only feed from conferences and events in Italy.
It served as a prototype for https://theherd.radio/ , an account abstraction powered webradio which broadcasted from DevConnect Istanbul and unStableSummit at EthDenver 2024, and was one of the first projects to sparkle attention towards the web3 radio concept.
Today, SpaghettETH is working on shipping a truly unstoppable and decentralized webradio as a DeComm (Decentralized Communications) public good. The main features:
- Anyone can listen_ no web3 UX needed
- ZuPass gated_ Only Zupass verified users will be able to curate the radio and create content. In alternative, we will gate it to SpaghettETH Passport SBT owners, a new community/educational initiative we're launching for the ETH Italian 2024 Fall conference season.
- On-chain calendar_ Curators can book their on-air slots directly on-chain
- Dynamic Player_ Every block.timestamp, the player calls the RadioCalendar.sol contract to fetch a different livestream url
- Integration with Livepeer Studio _ Curators will have a basic UI to stream live audio from whatever device, given that they can use any external DAW or podcast software
- Monetization _ external sponsors will be able to bid for calendar slots for their brand to be visible during the livestream
- Split earnings _ curators can setup different beneficiaries from the sponsorship opportunities
At present, a mockup with features 1 to 4 has been created. We are looking for further funding to build the rest into a testable beta version.
