Overview
Green Planet Conservation Initiative is a non-governmental organization that promotes environmental conservation, sustainable practices and education through its green project initiative that is focused climate change awareness and environmental education programs, Creating Safe and Healing Green Spaces, Environmental and Mental Health Counseling, Vocational Skills Development for Youth, Tree Ambassador Program, Youth Leadership in Environmental Advocacy. We aim to create a more sustainable future for the youths through our initiatives. We strive to leave a positive impact on the world and inspire future leaders to continue the mission of protecting the environment. GPCI wide range of activities provides support for youths in various ways:
- Environmental Education as an Empowerment Tool GPCI’s climate change awareness and environmental education programs provide young people in need with valuable knowledge and skills. By educating these youth on sustainability, tree planting, and climate resilience, GPCI empowers them with environmental stewardship, which serves as both an educational and personal development tool. This educational initiative helps them become more connected to their environment while promoting social responsibility. It also provide them with skills and awareness to tackle environmental challenges, which can foster empowerment and personal growth.
- Creating Safe and Healing Green Spaces GPCI’s tree planting exercises and the creation of urban green spaces . By establishing safe, green areas for youth living our local communities, GPCI is contributing to the creation of healthier and more therapeutic environments. These green spaces can offer a calming and healing atmosphere for children who have experienced trauma or crisis, aligning with safe housing initiatives. This provides both physical and emotional benefits for the children.
- Environmental and Mental Health Counseling GPCI’s nature-based activities, such as tree planting and regenerative agriculture, serves as therapy which help children manage trauma and stress in a supportive setting. Studies show that exposure to nature can improve mental health, reduce stress, and promote emotional well-being. By offering nature therapy or green space counseling as part of our shelter programs, GPCI contributes to holistic interventions that support youth in crisis.
- Vocational Skills Development for Youth GPCI’s expertise in regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, and sustainable practices is being leveraged to provide vocational training for youth. By teaching them practical skills in these fields, GPCI equipping at-risk youth with valuable tools for future employment or entrepreneurship in the growing green economy. This vocational training can help youth develop a sense of purpose and hope for the future by creating pathways to economic empowerment through sustainable agriculture and green jobs.
- Tree Ambassador Program GPCI’s Tree Ambassador Program is giving youths responsibility and ownership of tree planting and care. This initiative not only fosters a connection with nature but also provides the youth with a sense of purpose, as they actively contribute to climate resilience in their communities. It can also help build self-esteem and confidence while contributing to their communities.
