Seeding Reciprocity is a 501c3 organization planting the 'seeds' of 'reciprocity'. Reciprocity acknowledges that everything and everyone on this planet and in this universe are connected.
It is called Ubuntu in Africa. Ubuntu is an ancient African word meaning 'humanity to others'. Ubuntu has its roots in humanist African philosophy, where the idea of community is one of the building blocks of society.
To the Quechua people in Peru, the word Ayni translates to “sacred reciprocity” where everything in the universe is living and mutually connected.
Our first regenerative farm site is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills in Northern California. Our initiatives for this site in 2024 are threefold:
-
Honoring the ancestors of this land that we steward and opening the door to ancestors of all lands: We are growing and saving seeds of the native populations in the Americas and inviting these wisdom keepers to share their stories online with full editing and all copyrights. We are working first with the tribes of this land first. This has already expanded out.. We acknowledge that this is an intimate matter, whose hand is not to be forced by illusion of power.
-
Restoring and stewarding the land we occupy: Removing trash and clearing brush for fire safety. We are planting native varieties for pollinators. We have some water catchments and would love to expand this. We are striving to save water with new irrigation systems. As far as regenerative practices go we are 100% organic, no till, we incorporate cover crops & support pollinator habitat.
-
Regenerative ecological and environmental education: We are developing a farm based, in person & online experiential K-12 curriculum as the Full Circle Curriculum. We currently teach onsite at the farm. We endeavor to teach as an online farm about the principles of carbon footprint and carbon sequestration, with a focus on local and sustainable food systems. The Full Circle Curriculum offers a holistic view of farming as well as an open ended equation as to the impact of various farming practices on our environment.
