This project aims to assist individuals living in inflation-prolonging countries like Argentina and Turkey in their efforts to hedge against inflation through the tokenization of everyday goods. The idea is to issue goods-backed tokens redeemable for everyday necessities such as bottles of water and bags of cereal. By purchasing a respective token, such as a “Water Token,” consumers can lock in today’s price and avoid potential price increases by the time they redeem the token for actual goods like bottles of water in the future. This approach also helps reduce food waste caused by expiration, allowing individuals to stock up on fresh products like meats and fruits, even without a large freezer for a long term storage.
Within the scope of Token Engineering QF Grants, the project consists of five phases:
1, Researching the reality of inflation globally, focusing on Argentina and similar economies. 2, Developing a detailed plan for the Proof of Concept, including goods selection and city identification. 3, Preparation for the Proof of Concept rollout, involving participant selection and stakeholder engagement. 4, Implementing tokenization systems, leveraging existing infrastructure for PINTA token. 5, Researching and potentially writing a unique ERC specification to ensure the smooth operation of tokenized goods economy.
Short and Long-Term Goals: Short-term goals include launching the Proof of Concept, refining parameters, and gaining insights for a full-scale implementation. Long-term objectives involve expanding the tokenization scheme to various goods and exploring decentralization possibilities for enhanced customization and participation.
Project Originator: Originating from a participant in the muBuenos event in Buenos Aires, Argentina, this project was conceived in response to the city's high food prices driven by inflation. Leveraging on the mu community and the infrastructure provided for PINTA token, the project aims to address the challenges of inflation through innovative tokenization solutions.
