Wasset uses blockchain to create an incentive-based waste management system, featuring a marketplace, currency token, DAO, and data validation, while actively piloting and building apps.

Merchant app

Introduction

Wasset is a protocol that promotes sustainable waste management, leveraging blockchain technology's transparency and tokenization to create an incentive-driven waste circular economy. We have four core elements of the protocol which address different problems in the current waste management space:

  • The marketplace (connecting everyone in the value chain while providing data and value)
  • The Token (the currency for the circular waste economy)
  • The DAO (a coalition of recyclers, decision-makers, NGOs etc to support funding for waste recovery projects, research and scaling of existing technologies)
  • The Oracle (a human-powered data aggregator and validator providing accurate waste data for insight and action)

Traction

  • We hosted the first community event (WCH 1.0) in Lagos (https://tribuneonlineng.com/at-wasset-community-hangout-experts-harp-on-effective-waste-management-practices/)

WCH 1.0

  • We've developed the wasset Merchant app (https://previewer.adalo.com/d2dbe0b0-9d86-41c9-ac70-996804978a6e)

Merchant app

  • We partnered with over 4 recycling companies
  • We partnered with over 3 NGOs
  • We developed the payment processing and protection DApp to power the marketplace (Using mobile number and USSD code)

Adehun

  • We've partnered with different brands on different community events like IB4A(https://blog.dfmlab.com/all-you-need-to-know-about-inclusive-blockchain-for-africa-ib4a) by DFMlab, CCC-Ibadan by WomeninDeFi (https://twitter.com/women_in_defi/status/1677232881230381057?s=20), waste recovery with RecycleGarb

What we are doing currently

Merchant app

  • We are currently running a pilot program in the city of Ibadan to get data and feedback on how users interact with the marketplace by swapping their waste for cash or using the value they accumulate to participate in the UBHI (https://blog.wasset.io/all-you-need-to-know-about-the-wasset-ubhi-project) or ImpactUs program (https://blog.wasset.io/all-you-need-to-know-about-the-wasset-impactus-project)

  • We are also building the wasset marketplace app

Our goal with the round

Our goal with the round is to raise enough funds to support us in order to continue building the marketplace app, design and develop the platform token in partnership with Chainforce (https://chainforce.tech/), support us with building the ImpactUs and lottery DApp, and the pilot program to reach more cities.
