The project aims to democratize scientific knowledge in Brazil by creating a Web3 platform for funding, sharing, and reviewing research, promoting decentralized collaboration and education among scientists.

My name is Lucas Boarim Paludo, I am 21 years old and I am a Control and Automation Engineering student. I have experience in mobile development and Machine Learning projects, in addition to participating in several innovation and entrepreneurship events, including the NASA Space Apps Hackathon, where together with my team we won the global honorable mention award. I also came in first place in the São Paulo City Hall Hackathon held at Campus Party 2023.

Considering that Web3 is a path capable of providing many opportunities for growth for people, but in Brazil it is still not common for people to be interested in the subject, with this project, I intend to show them the possibilities that can open up, this involves creating a mindset of using Web3 more in everyday life. Below is a detailed description of the project, with the steps necessary to achieve the planned objectives and be able to scale them.

Project Overview The project aims to democratize access to scientific knowledge and promote the integration of Brazilian scientists into the blockchain ecosystem. Using the Web3 stack, the project seeks to build a public infrastructure for financing, creation, review, credit, storage and dissemination of scientific knowledge, promoting a fair and equitable distribution of this knowledge in Brazil.

Objectives Develop a Web3 platform: Build an open-source platform for financing and sharing scientific projects using decentralized technologies, such as blockchain, that allows for the secure storage and collaborative review of research.

Promote Web3 education for scientists: Organize conferences, workshops, hackathons and meetings to educate Brazilian scientists about the opportunities and tools that Web3 offers, integrating them into the blockchain ecosystem.

Build a collaborative network of scientists: Facilitate the creation of an active community of Brazilian scientists who collaborate on decentralized science projects, using the public infrastructure created by the project.

Disseminate scientific knowledge fairly: Ensure that scientific knowledge is accessible and distributed fairly and equitably, using Web3 infrastructure to reduce economic and social barriers.

Problem Statement In Brazil, the centralization of funding and dissemination of scientific knowledge has limited many researchers and communities’ access to scientific advancement. This problem is exacerbated by Brazilian scientists’ lack of engagement with emerging technologies, such as Web3, that can offer decentralized solutions to these challenges.

Action Plan Research and Development (Month 1-2): Conduct initial research to identify the needs and challenges faced by Brazilian scientists in the context of scientific funding and dissemination. Develop the Web3 platform architecture based on the research findings.

Platform Development (Month 3-6): Build the open source platform that enables the funding, creation, review, crediting, storage, and dissemination of scientific knowledge, with an emphasis on security, accessibility, and collaboration.

Community Engagement (Months 7-9): Organize conferences, workshops, hackathons, and meetups to educate Brazilian scientists about Web3, promote the platform, and encourage collaboration within the scientific community.

Launch and Feedback (Months 10-11): Launch the beta version of the platform and gather feedback from the scientific community for continuous improvements.

Scale and Sustainability (Months 12+): Expand the platform to include more scientists and projects, secure continued funding through collaborations and sponsorships, and provide regular updates to the Gitcoin community on the project’s progress.

Open Source and Collaborative Nature: All code developed for the platform will be open source, hosted in a public repository on GitHub. The community will be encouraged to contribute, whether through code, ideas, or feedback. The project will be guided by decentralized governance, where contributors will have a say in key decisions.

Regular Updates: The project will provide monthly updates to the Gitcoin community, detailing progress made, challenges encountered, and next steps. These updates will be shared through the GitHub repository and on communication channels such as Twitter and Discord.

Conclusion "Web3 Decentralized Science for All" aims to revolutionize the way scientific knowledge is funded, created and shared in Brazil, promoting greater inclusion and equity through the use of Web3 technologies. With a focus on collaboration, transparency and accessibility, the project is committed to building a sustainable infrastructure that benefits both the scientific community and society at large.
