Empower young climate ambassadors in Nigeria to promote sustainability, educate communities, and lead local environmental initiatives, addressing climate challenges and fostering eco-friendly practices.

Project Goal:

To empower climate-savvy ambassadors in promoting climate change awareness and action at the grassroots level

The Big Problem:

Nigeria is facing a significant challenge in combating climate change, particularly in rural and marginalized communities, where there is a lack of access to climate advocacy, limiting these communities ability to understand and implement sustainable practices. This gap in climate education hampers efforts to build resilience against the adverse effects of climate change, such as extreme weather events, food insecurity, water scarcity. and poor health.

Our solution:

Through our ambassador Climate program we aim to empower young leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to spread awareness and advocacy, promote sustainable practices, and take action to become proactive in addressing some of the environmental problems in their communities.

Objectives:

-Train over 500 climate ambassadors who will lead community initiatives and promote environmental sustainability.

  • Educate over 2,000 students and young adults on climate change, its impacts, and actionable solutions through workshops, environmental card games, and seminars.

  • Support individual ambassadors organize a climate awareness event in their diverse communities.

  • Offer a certificate of program achievement to all participants

Project Impact on the environment:

  • Encourage the adoption of eco-friendly practices, such as waste reduction, tree planting, waste recycling, sustainable agriculture practices, and energy conservation.

  • Strengthen community resilience against climate-related challenges.

  • Encourage policymakers, stakeholders, and the broader public, advocating for sustainable policies and practices.
