A forest credit economy offsetting deforestation, funding restoration NGOs, and empowering indigenous people economically, supported by Malaysia's largest student blockchain club.

Borneo Forest Credits (BFC)

A forest credit economy to minimize the impact of deforestation while empowering the well-being of indigenous people of Sabah/Sarawak

How it works?

City developers are required to spend forest credits to offset their deforestation activities to build cities.

The earnings generated from forest credits will be used to fund NGOs who run restoration initiatives in indigenous villages.

Indigenous people are also given a platform to sell their handicrafts, using the materials gathered from the restored forests.

Business Model

We charge a 1% platform fee for each sale made in the handicraft marketplace to fund further development. We charge no fees on the buying and selling of BFC to maximize the funds given to restoration initiatives. The earnings will largely reflect on the positive impact the project brings to indigenous people.

Product of APUBCC

This project is supported by APUBCC, the largest student blockchain club in Malaysia. We hope to spread the knowledge of web3 as a platform for public goods and represent Malaysia in the blockchain sphere.

Collaboration with ReFi Borneo

While we're a budding project, we are glad to collaborate with ReFi Borneo, an established project to support regenerative finance endeavors in Borneo. We hope to gain a stronger understanding with indigenous people and uphold what they value the most! https://x.com/refievents/status/1577615027993022464?s=46&t=569m1JI5DYYufOO-Xn5UGQ
