Beginings Since 2019, our academy's mission has been clear: introducing over a million Latin Americans to web3. Education stands as our cornerstone, achieved through practical guides, tutorials, videos, and open courses. With over 8,000 students spanning diverse fields like business, programming, investments, and legaltech, we've made a mark. But this journey isn't just about content—it's about real impact. That's why research is pivotal. Data illuminates our way, showing the tangible effects of crypto education. This isn't just research; it's our compass for fostering transformation across Latin America.

Development In 2022, the seeds of our journey were sown when we embarked on a small yet impactful research initiative centered around cryptocurrency usage in Chile. Our quest was fueled by the scarcity of crypto adoption insights across Latin America. Little did we know that this endeavor would serve as the cornerstone of our mission under the banner of "Colledge Global: Building Minds, Connecting Communities in Crypto."

Our initial research reverberated with a resounding statistic: a staggering 66% of cryptocurrency holders in our study lacked a foundational understanding of the technology they possessed. This revelation was more than a mere statistic; it was a call to action.

Driven by this clarion call, we realized that a profound need existed. Our region craved in-depth exploration into the true essence of cryptocurrency adoption. The core of our mission emerged: to illuminate the motivations driving crypto use across diverse Latin American countries. Yet, our purpose extended beyond data collection. We recognized the power of knowledge to spark change. Education was not just a response to a gap; it was a catalyst for transformation.

Thus, our current pursuit materialized as the "Colledge Global" project. Execution Our vision came to life during the closing stages of the last Gitcoin Beta Round, where our project received an important boost from generous donations. These crucial contributions formed the foundation of our initiative, propelling us to action. With these resources at hand, we began the exciting journey under the "Colledge Global" banner.

Our dedication to representation and inclusivity has driven us to handpick researchers from various corners of Latin America. The initial steps have been taken, but our ambition remains unfulfilled. We're steadfast in our mission to ensure every country across the region has a dedicated researcher championing our cause.

Market perspective

Currently, Latin America boasts a population exceeding 670 million, with approximately 30 million cryptocurrency users, equating to 4.4% of the population. Within a region where just 50% possess access to the financial system and a mere 30% to credit services, these figures paint a broader picture. However, this is but a glimpse, for specific data concerning true crypto adoption in Latin America remains elusive. We ardently hold the belief that through decentralized networks, blockchain, and web3, Latin America has the potential to metamorphose into an inclusive landscape, brimming with opportunities for all. Yet, realizing this vision necessitates a thorough market assessment—comprehending gaps in education and, more significantly, nurturing communities that catalyze this growth. Thus, our mission is steadfast: to beckon over a million individuals into this transformative realm.

Problem being solved

In 2022, we conducted a targeted research endeavor in Chile to examine cryptocurrency usage, revealing a significant problem: a staggering 66% of cryptocurrency holders lacked fundamental knowledge about their investments. This marked a critical issue (the problem at hand).

This realization sparked a profound insight: there was a dire need for individuals to comprehend where their investments were flowing, prioritize security, and, above all, grasp the immense potential of this technology. Responding to this need, we launched the "Initial Route" educational program, comprising six masterclasses that demystified the essentials of cryptocurrencies and blockchain.

Our journey continues as we delve into more research, focusing on technical intricacies. Our goal is to furnish comprehensive studies and analyses that translate the problems we identified into clear-cut solutions. What will we do with the funds?

The funds we receive will serve as a catalyst for expanding our research group into additional countries, enabling us to compensate specialists for their dedicated hours in conducting diverse investigations encompassing technical research, adoption and use case research, and analysis of opportunities across various domains. The outcomes of these efforts will be disseminated in Spanish, fostering accessibility and openness.

Moreover, these funds will empower our research team to partake in global events, facilitating the presentation of our research and fostering connections within the international technical community. This bridge between regions will facilitate the infusion of vital knowledge back into our local landscape.

In tandem, we will craft an array of valuable resources, including Spanish-language guides, tutorials, elucidating videos, immersive workshops and courses, engaging meetups, and more. These resources collectively embody our commitment to knowledge dissemination and community empowerment.
