AgroforestDAO 🌿💡

AgroforestDAO is a revolutionary initiative that merges blockchain technology with agroecology, setting a new standard for sustainability and innovation in the agricultural sector. At the core of our mission is the desire to transform perennial production areas into hybrid models of governance and production, transcending local and global boundaries through gamified engagement models in education, governance, reputation building, and financial sustainability.

Since the last funding round, we have made several strategic advancements:

• We minted six NFTs on the Celo network, each representing a syntropic agroforestry nest where various species have been planted. These NFTs can be viewed and verified here.
• Significant UI/UX updates have been made to our application, including a new page dedicated to showcasing minted NFTs, providing a more intuitive view of digital assets and the agroforestry areas they represent.

Origins and Purpose

Originating from the visionary work of Diogo Jorge, a renowned permaculturist and agroforester, AgroforestDAO is a rooted global community committed to optimizing socio-environmental regeneration processes through innovative Web3 technology. Our unique proposition—a forestry adaptation of the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model—promotes intergenerational production, backed by a truly global community.

At our core, we leverage blockchain technology not only as an unprecedented coordination tool but also as a way to forge lasting bonds among co-producers, recognize the intellectual capital of agroforestry, and offer a dignified career path for both urban and rural youth. Our first decentralized cultivation experience has already highlighted the transformative potential of this approach, with share sales representing the harvest and the collaborative establishment of an Agroforestry System (SAF), supported by on-chain Hypercerts certificates for participation recognition.

NFTs and Community Engagement

With NFTs representing tangible portions of agricultural areas and rewards ranging from baskets of produce to points in gamified games and tokens, AgroforestDAO is redefining what it means to invest and actively participate in land regeneration. Recently, we integrated specific NFTs of syntropic agroforestry nests, allowing a direct and verifiable connection with areas planted through regenerative practices.

Allocation of Received Resources

The funds raised through this grant will be directed towards:

1. Continued Development of the Application: We will invest in improving the AgroforestDAO application to ensure its stability, security, and scalability. Enhancements will include new features for impact monitoring, additional NFT integrations, and gamified engagement experiences for our community.

2. Integration with Other Regenerative Projects: AgroforestDAO is committed to collaborating with projects and applications dedicated to environmental regeneration, forming an interconnected network for positive impact. We aim to implement integrations with other Web3 projects that share our values, enabling data exchanges on biodiversity, ecological certifications, and metrics for soil and biodiversity regeneration.

3. Infrastructure Expansion and Community Engagement: As the project grows, so does our global community of co-producers and supporters. Part of the funds will be allocated to organizing workshops and educational events to empower new members with regenerative practices and Web3 technology knowledge, along with creating outreach materials and providing technical support.

As we continue to expand our influence and capacity through blockchain integration, we aim to implement decentralized governance models and develop new functionalities to enhance engagement and the value offered to our community. We are actively seeking partnerships and resources to scale our operations, enhance our technological infrastructure, and broaden our socio-environmental impact.
