TL;DR: The Decentralization Research Center (DRC) is a 501(c)(4) non-profit advocating for policies that protect and support decentralized technologies. With a history of influential collaborations and summits, we are scaling our efforts to educate policymakers on the benefits of decentralization, ensuring it remains an integral part of technology's future. Explore our research at thedrcenter.org/research.
The Decentralization Research Center (DRC) was founded in 2021 to advance the adoption and understanding of decentralized systems, initially focused on DAOs and now encompassing a wide array of decentralized technologies, especially the development of blockchain protocols and applications that are immutable, censorship resistant, transparent, secure, and enable data self-sovereignty. Through collaborations with institutions like Harvard, Stanford, University of Toronto and the University of Tokyo, we’ve organized collaborative events that convene leading academics, policymakers, and industry representatives to drive forward the conversation on decentralization.
In just a few years, our team has achieved considerable impact with an efficient use of a limited budget. This funding will support our expansion, including the establishment of a Washington, DC office, allowing us to engage policymakers at scale and ensure the decentralized ecosystem has a robust voice on Capitol Hill. We aim to fill a critical gap by providing a balanced, research-backed voice in policy discussions for decentralized technologies and the communities that build and support them. With accelerating regulatory developments, DRC is uniquely positioned to advocate for policies that value decentralization’s unique benefits.
