A community brigade dedicated to restoring storm-affected coral reefs seeks support for acquiring drones and temperature measuring devices to enhance monitoring and knowledge sharing.

Hello, my name is Arcelia Romero. I am a biologist and coordinator of Guardianes del arrecife, a community brigade dedicated to restoring coral reefs affected by storms and hurricanes. We are supported by the Puerto Morelos Reef National Park, CONANP, and prestigious institutions such as UNAM, ECOSUR, and CRIAP of IMIPAS, which endorse the quality of our work.

Our Work

• Rescue of coral fragments and colonies from storms and hurricanes

• Monitoring reefs, recording their conditions before and after hydrometeorological events.

How Can You Help Us?

• With your support, we could acquire some of the following important technological tools for monitoring:

• A drone to capture aerial images and assess the condition of the reefs.

• Temperature measuring devices to study the impact of water warming.

Additionally, these tools will allow us to share our experiences and expand empirical, technical, and scientific knowledge among our brigade members, strengthening the Guardians of the Reef network. Your donation will make a difference!
