TLDR Superchain Eco in collaboration with PrimeDAO has identified six high value research topics related to Tokenomics and Governance for the Superchain.
We aim to produce and publish at least one blog on each of these topics in the next 3 months. To do so, we’re leveraging our inhouse research team and opening up to the wider research community through BountyCaster, where we will run a Research competition from August 7th to August 28th.

Our approach Next to leveraging our inhouse research team, we will invite participants to submit high-quality blogs and analyses on governance topics from August 7th to August 28th.
This approach has proven to generate significant engagement as Superchain Eco previously ran a bounty to generate 30+ project submissions on the Superchain Eco platform. By aligning this initiative with GG21, we ensure broader participation and visibility.
Each blog should consist of 400 - 1200 words and include at least one visual. Visuals should help clarify or enhance the report’s content and can consist of comparison charts, flow diagrams, summaries of key points, infographics, data visualizations such as graphs or bar charts, illustrations explaining concepts, annotated screenshots, and mind maps.
The blogs should be submitted to our Superchain Eco research flow, and if approved will be published on the Superchain Eco Mirror and Platform as a guest blog. In order to encourage participation, we have decided to collaborate with PrimeDAO to provide incentives for the top 5 submissions. The top 2 submissions will be rewarded with $500 each, while the next 3 will receive $250 each.
Submissions will be reviewed based on completeness and accuracy, with our team validating all entries and providing feedback to ensure they meet the standards and contribute meaningfully to our platform.

While we have specific topics in mind, we also welcome other governance and tokenomics research related to the Superchain. To guide participants, we have created an initial list of 6 topics:
Identified Topics Comparative Analysis: Optimism vs. Other Layer 2 Solutions: Compare Optimism's governance model with those of other Layer 2 solutions. Highlight unique features, strengths, and areas for improvement.
OP Staking? Investigate the OP token's tokenomics and its role in governance. Discuss how OP becoming a Staking token could contribute to the health of the OP ecosystem.
Analysis of Governance Fund Grants' Contribution to Intents and Target Metrics: Evaluate how grants from the Optimism Governance Fund align with the network's stated intent. Assess the effectiveness of these grants in meeting specific target metrics and overall ecosystem goals.
Comparative Analysis of Grant Programs and Their Failure Modes: Examine various grant programs within the Optimism ecosystem and compare them to similar initiatives in other blockchain networks. Identify common failure modes, challenges, and best practices to improve grant program effectiveness.
High-Signal On-Chain Actions for Engaged Governance Participants: Investigate which on-chain actions serve as strong indicators of engaged governance participants. Analyze voting patterns, proposal submissions, and other blockchain-based activities correlating with active and informed participation in Optimism's governance.
Equitable Representation: Analyze the Citizen breakdown to understand to what degree it represents the various elements of the Superchain, such as existing and new Chains). Understand the relationship between (expected) value generated for the OP Collective and governance influence.
About Superchain Eco Superchain Eco is a platform that aims to accelerate the adoption and development of the Superchain. By engaging the community in governance-related research and analyses we aim to foster a deeper understanding and stronger involvement in the ecosystem. This initiative will contribute to the growth and sustainability of the Superchain Ecosystem by encouraging active participation and leveraging collective intelligence.
