The Rice Punk Podcast: Web3 meets Asia
A rotating-host podcast featuring diverse Asian perspectives on web3 culture and technology, leading up to DevCon SEA, with community-driven stories and insights.

About

A decentralized web3 podcast about the intersection of culture and technology of Asia powered by the Pagoda community. We will have people from 12+ different countries all preparing for DevCon to share about their cultural context, personal stories, and their perspective of web3 in Asia. The Rice Punk Podcast will be the best gateway into Asia, pathing way to DevCon SEA.

Why Decentralized Podcast

Traditional podcasts usually feature a consistent host or co-hosts and is very personally branded. However, the beauty of The Rice Punk Podcast lies in its diversity and perspectives/relationships that different people will have with each other. This is a podcast that fully reflects the plurality of Asia. Not from a singlular point of view, but the chemistry and different connections people might have with each other, be it cultural, technical, spiritual, community…etc. Every angle is worth exploring, but a single host or co-host will not be able to fully explore the depth of different perspectives and angles that the diversity of Asia web3 communities has to offer.

How it works

Rather than a traditional podcast, the host and guests will rotate from different countries in Asia and each dive into specific tracks and themes in Web3, including education, civic tech / open source, growth and more.

We aim the launch the pilot episode around mid May. We aim to launch one episode per week before DevCon, bringing 25+ different perspectives into Asia.

About the Pagoda Community

Pagoda starts as a humble assemblage of Asian web3/Ethereum ecosystem builders, thinkers and leaders. We aspire to be a resilient and interoperable support network that provides change-makers in political, economic, technological, and spiritual sectors with an alternative lifestyle and career path focused on humanitarian care across Asia.

We’re cultivating high trust relationships through peer support & mutual care, so that people grow & develop, to be better equipped for doing meaningful work in the world.

In other words, people who spend time in Pagoda tend to develop a sense of belonging, grow more emotional maturity, develop skills & confidence, and find new opportunities to make a beneficial contribution to the world. Our approach puts people before projects. Trust is our priority, and we’re gradually aligning our livelihood with our values.

The first Pagoda gathering was held under this vision statement : "we gather to weave the diverse threads of Asia's cultures and philosophies into a united tapestry of Ethereum aiming to shape a decentralized world that honors our shared heritage and distinct voices. "
