Hello, we are xBound!

xBound is an initiative that will codify and open-source practices for designing meaningful gatherings and create an environment for DAO-builders/enthusiasts to connect deeply across cultures, learn from one another, develop high-trust relationships and ultimately better coordinate, collaborate and grow the ecosystem.

Through the “xBound” playbook and series of regional events in Asia-Pacific, Africa and Latin America, we seek to re-centre local perspectives and amplify voices in the community that are under-represented in the DAO space, supporting more locally driven communities to share their knowledge and wisdom in community building and to actively share with one another.

Through cross-cultural and intergenerational sharing in safe and facilitated dialogue, we aim to share and document ancient wisdom that can inform the development of the web3 space.

What we are building

xBound is a highly curated gathering that brings diverse voices and fosters deeper dialogue across DAO-curious individuals from the East and West/Rest. We intentionally focus on diversity to bring perspectives not often found in crypto gatherings, and we are creating a safe space to enable participants to share their wisdom about collective practices and challenges.

While there is a growing interest in DAOs, we are using this time to get below the surface level dialogue about DAOs and get into the act of decentralized organizing, the philosophies that influence our work, and the inner and collective work needed to make DAOs successful.

During this time, we focus on both DAO-curious individuals from the East and DAOists from other regions, enabling them to collaborate and create synergy together.

Our tagline is: "Weaving wisdom for a new era - Ancient Wisdom, Modern Knowledge, and Planetary Minds"

What we've done so far

We have already completed a pilot event - SeoulBound in South Korea with an aim to connect wisdom and learning across East and Rest (West) with an aim to center local perspectives in building the DAO ecosystem.

It brought together 60 participants, and five tangible projects emerged that participants are continuing to develop in support of the web3 ecosystem.

Why we are building it

So much of the global decentralization conversation focuses on the tooling/technology part (software), and what gets missed is the human element of decentralization in practice ("humanware").

xBound aims to create an environment for collective learning, bridging ancient wisdom with the value system of decentralization.

September/October 2023 Next xBound aiming for September/October in Kenya or Japan

December 2023 Culminating 2023 with another SeoulBound back in the East but this time in the southern hemisphere, somewhere in Southeast Asia (i.e. Thailand or Vietnam - especially since the Ethereum Foundation has announced that DevCon 2024 will take place somewhere in SEA and we could use this event as a pre-onboarding educational conference for the locals interested)
