A model for automated, trust-based community funding using conviction voting and Zupass identity to allocate ETH for public goods. Allows open proposal submission, non-terminating funding rounds, and off-chain coordination.

Zuzu is a community capital allocation model based on conviction voting, designed to be highly automated and trust-coordinated, providing a way to extend community capital to thousands of public goods.

This experimental model utilizes community-provided ETH (from community treasuries or other benefactors) to fund different themed rounds, during which builders can compete with their proposed ideas. Through the conviction voting mechanism, Zupass holders can determine which proposals will receive funding.

Inspired by Nouns and Commons Stack. We hope to make it implementable and open-source, so that it can be deployed as a public good that is scalable for any community.

  1. Permissionless Proposal Submission: This allows anyone to submit their idea proposals and request funding without any entry barriers, making the process open and accessible to all.

  2. Integration with Zupass: Holders of the Zupass, a community identity system based on ZK technology, have 100 Zuzu points, which are used to determine the allocation of Zuzu funds.

  3. Conviction Voting: Each resident is given 100 Zuzu conviction points, which can be allocated to different proposals in varying proportions, also known as belief distribution. The weight is calculated based on allocated voting rights. During this period, residents can withdraw their collateral from specific proposals and redistribute it. Once the collective conviction reaches a certain threshold, the proposal is approved.

  4. Non-Terminating Rounds: The community can freely initiate themed rounds without a fixed termination time. Funding rounds will continue until the funds are depleted.

  5. Off-Chain Logic: The MVP version of Zuzu's logic will be entirely off-chain, preserved through snapshots. Funds are stored in a multi-signature wallet, protected by trusted members. Allocations will be made based on the voting results.
