After Typhoon Yagi struck Vietnam, the team supported 43 households, focusing on building charitable homes for two severely affected families, needing 300-350 million VND in contributions.

Typhoon Yagi struck Vietnam in September 2024, leaving behind not only damage and loss (almost 1000 people died, nearly 1500 people missing, 40.000 billions vnd lost which is half of GDP of Vietnam in 1 year) but also lives that need to continue. Rebuilding life after storms and floods is a long journey and requires a lot of resources. Therefore, the CHUYEN RAU VUI VE team has joined forces with the CHARITY SÁCH VÙNG CAO team to create greater strength and efficiency for the first trip of this campaign.

In the first trip on September 21st, our Chuyến Rau Vui Vẻ (CRVV) team visited and worked closely with the local authorities. We supported 43 households in Tuyen Quang in Yen Bai.

After careful consideration, we have chosen to support two families who we felt faced the most loss, pain and hardship amongst. The specific plan is as follows:

💕 Case 1: Hoàng Văn Nuôi's Family Address: Kiên Đài commune, Chiêm Hóa district, Tuyên Quang province Situation: Both Nuôi and his wife are disabled, and their family is classified as impoverished with two little kids. Due to their poor health, they cannot farm like others. Their old house, which was previously supported by the government, was completely destroyed during a flood caused by Typhoon Yagi. Support plan: Build a charitable home for Nuôi's family. Estimated budget: 200 million VND. Currently, 40 million VND has been provided by the Commune Red Cross Fund, leaving 160 million VND needed.

💕 Case 2: Uncle Phê's Family (Village Chief) Address: Nghĩa Đô commune, Bảo Yên district, Lào Cai province Situation: Mr Phê’s mother and daughter tragically died in a recent flash flood. His wife suffers from a mental illness, and his granddaughter (the daughter of the deceased) was also swept away by the flood but fortunately rescued and is now receiving hospital treatment. Mr Phê’s house was completely swept away by the flood. Support plan: Build a charitable home for Mr Phê's family. Estimated budget: 200 - 250 million VND. Due to the remote location of Mr Phê’s house, labor and material transportation costs are expected to be higher.
