Long-time Gitcoin community member seeks support for basic living while contributing to public goods and open-source software; aspires to be more active in governance and community engagement.

Dear fellow Gitcoin Citizens, As a member of this community for nearly two years, it has been wonderful to see both the platform and ecosystem evolve.

My relationship with Gitcoin has changed a lot since I first entered the ecosystem. I used to tell people I had a sordid history with Gitcoin. Because, despite voicing my open support for and praise of Gitcoin since GR12 my project (OpenCann, f/k/a Cannabis Genome DAO) was not accepted to a round until GR15 due to various concerns over legitimacy. I persevered as an avid proponent of the mission to fund public goods by continuing to apply every round, and continuing to help other projects navigate the application process in GR13 and GR14, even when mine was not yet approved.

As shown in my banner photos I have purchased. worn, and displayed my Gitcoin merch on my Bufficorn plushie with pride over the years. Both the sweatshirt and hat have been staples of my regular rotation. The photo with my face covered is how I woke up one morning during a grants round before hopping on a Twitter shill space and funding 45 grants in GR15 while homeless/living in my car.

I've gone all in on public goods & DAOs after shutting down my former biotech company. I've continued to work full-time on open-source software and contributing to public goods funding loops, even without having a steady source of income. Any support I earn in this round will fund my basic living essentials (don't worry, I am safe). The images on the right are some graphics I created in response to a request from the Gitcoin Twitter account.

I did not participate in the first citizens round and I have never held GTC. But I have been reading and occasionally participated on the Gitcoin governance forum. If I'm awarded GTC through matching I promise to honor the role of Citizen and hold all of my tokens so that I can begin to participate more actively in the governance process, including Snapshot votes.

One love, Elijah (flowscience)

My past contributions to the Gitcoin ecosystem:

  1. Gitcoin grant round applicant and ecosystem advocate since before GR12

  2. Advised other projects through the application process in subsequent rounds. Although I was a contributor to each of these projects at the time, I received no direct incentive or remuneration in my efforts to assist the project applications:

  1. I interviewed Disruption Joe (fmr FDD lead) on Crypto Sapiens in June 2022 for GR14 Launch Day
  1. Organizer and host of the two-day GR15 DeSci Round Giveathon Twitter Space held on the Crypto Sapiens account
  1. Gitcoin Radio speaker & participant every day during GG18
  • Both @OpenCann_ and @flow_science timelines on X were posting and retweeting #GG18 every day of the round
  • I joined Solarpunk Guild (collective hosts of Gitcoin Radio) and aim to support as many projects as I can during subsequent rounds
  1. Created two threads highlighting groups of projects
  1. Created an infographic about QF and AI spiral morphs of Gitcoin logo
  1. Building Hypercerts on BOS, an implementation of Hypercerts on Near Protocol
  • https://github.com/open-cann/hypercerts-on-bos

Future Goals of Participation in the Gitcoin Ecosystem

  1. Be more active in the Gitcoin Citizens area in Discord.
  2. Be more active on the gov.gitcoin forums and in Snapshot votes.
  3. Participate in Solarpunk Guild and help host Gitcoin Radio during GG19 & beyond.
  4. Continue to be an evangelist for Gitcoin and public goods funding in general. I'm active at IRL events, on Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  5. Continue to make art, educational infographics, and AV content for the Gitcoin community.
