Enhancing FrontierDAO's community and operations by educating members on fusion energy, science on blockchain, and DAO basics, while developing the Ikigai Game for trust-building and upskilling, and researching DAO governance strategies.

For GG19 we aim to strengthen the community building and operational capacity of FrontierDAO.

For the past 4 quarters (Q4 2022, Qs1,2,3 2023) we have undertaken several distinct outreach programs to welcome people into our ecosystem and provide basic knowledge about:

  • fusion energy
  • energy justice
  • web3 tooling
  • science on the blockchain

And navigating between the worlds of traditional academia in the context of STEM and a more web3 approach aka DeSci.

Informed communities are vital. And we are aiming for our FrontierDAO community members to be the most well-informed citizenry as possible about the promises fusion energy holds for the planet.

Our goal now is to provide sustenance and ongoing sustainability for core operations of the DAO. Our current projects are XKind, the courses that are being developed to provide cohorts of learners the means by which to understand the basics of What is a DAO? What is Fusion Energy and why is it an exponentially transformative technology? How does science fit on the blockchain? Why do we call them ‘wallets’ when all I need it for is to validate a transaction hash on-chain? And further basic and fundamentally good questions such as these are for people who may be unfamiliar with web3 and climate/clean energy technologies.

These offer updates on our activities, opportunities and relevant info regarding our verticals of Space, Fusion Energy and ClimateTech.

The Ikigai Game: A Web2 — Web3 Bridge game for trust building and upskilling:

Since GG18 we were able to launch the Starter Pack of The Ikigai Game which is a component for XKind Learning cohorts. It is a versatile Web2 —>Web3 game that can be played as an in-person game with simple playing cards; Or it can be played as a digital game using wallets, avatars and digital representations of the playing cards. The Ikigai Game fits in as a supplemental learning module to XKind in that it supports people as they embark on a career, or personal; Pivot. The purpose of The Ikigai Game is for community members to have a safe place in which to build teams and trust. We’ve also integrated upskilling in AI tooling into the game as a sort of ‘gamified’ method for upskilling with AI tools.

A similarity we’ve seen here in both Web3 and the Space industry is that each attracts people who have had prior careers and ‘lives.’ So for many people it may feel like they need to re-invent themselves in order to adapt to these industries. But, in fact, often they can transition their existing skill sets very successfully while still navigating a Pivot. The Ikigai Game - Ikigai being a Japanese word that connotes finding your sweet spot where your purpose, passion, mission and being rewarded for what you do all intersect and you are living your best life.

The Hows of Contributing to A DAO

We are similarly prepping for informal webinars focused on DAOs, blockchain and fusion energy that are structured as AMAs (ask me anythings). Since we founded FrontierDAO in August 2021, we have seen a tremendous rise in interest in fusion energy. We recently created our own Fusion Energy WikiBot that can be accessed on the link below. It gives people the option to do a simple search on the different fusion energy research facilities around the globe and a stream of information is provided.

This grant is also intended for more research into different methods and strategies for DAO governance. This past year, our executive members have joined several DAOs to learn and glean best practices. We would like to develop a more bespoke DAO governance system for our community that relies more on reputation-based voting rights. Support from this grant is intended for use in that exploratory scoping phase.
