Green Planet Conservation Initiative (GPCI) is an organization that promotes environmental conservation, sustainable practices and education through its green project initiative. GPCI is committed to creating a sustainable future by raising a generation of informed students and fostering a community actively contributing to climate resilience and Web 3 technologies. Our vision is to empower young people and communities with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to address the challenges of climate change while leveraging the opportunities presented by decentralized technologies. Through our comprehensive education programs, we aim to build a foundation of environmental stewardship and technological innovation that will drive sustainable development in Nigeria and beyond. Our Goal GPCI envisions a future where every student and community member is equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute meaningfully to climate resilience efforts. We aim to create a generation that is not only aware of the environmental challenges we face but is also actively engaged in finding solutions through sustainable practices and the adoption of Web 3 technologies. Our vision is to see communities transformed into hubs of innovation and resilience, where decentralized technologies and environmental consciousness intersect to create lasting positive change.

Problem Statement: Nigeria, like many countries, faces significant challenges due to climate change, including deforestation, soil degradation, and increasing carbon emissions. At the same time, the rapid evolution of digital technologies offers new opportunities for addressing these challenges, yet many communities, particularly in underserved regions, lack the knowledge and resources to fully engage with these tools. There is a critical need to educate the younger generation and communities on both climate resilience and the potential of Web 3 technologies to drive sustainable development.

Solution: GPCI proposes a multifaceted educational program that integrates climate education with training in Web 3 technologies. The program is delivered through a combination of school-based awareness creation, community workshops, and digital platforms. Key components of our program include:

1. Climate Education in Schools: We are partnering with Ministering of education to carry out awareness creation in schools that is focused on climate change, sustainable practices, and environmental stewardship. This partnership will ensure that students receive a comprehensive education on these critical issues.
2. Web 3 Technology Training: Alongside climate education, we are introducing students and community members to Web 3 technologies, including blockchain, decentralized finance (DeFi), decentralized science (DeSci) and octant epoch and GLM staking. This training will empower participants to engage with these technologies in ways that support climate resilience efforts.
3. Community Engagement: Beyond schools, GPCI will host workshops and seminars in local communities to raise awareness about climate change and introduce practical applications of Web 3 technologies. This will include hands-on training and demonstrations to ensure participants can apply what they learn in real-world contexts. We are currently planning hosting a web3 event at Plateau state polytechnic, where participant would be taught web3 education and how they can take advantage of Octant staking that facilitate funding of public goods. Team Capability: GPCI’s team comprises experts in environmental science, education, technology, and community engagement.
