GLOBAL REACH

🌍 Our community members pick up litter across 12 countries including Brazil, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, Colombia, USA, Dominican Republic, South Africa, Philippines & Puerto Rico. We are mostly concentrated in the Global South where income from Litter Token often surpasses that of a local government employee (on an hourly basis).

HOW IT WORKS

📸 Send us a picture of the litter item you picked up and threw out. Post it in our Discord. We then send Litter Tokens directly to your crypto wallet that can be swapped for USDC (1 LTK = $1.00).

USE OF GITCOIN FUNDS

🏁 GITCOIN GRANTS 21 GOAL:

Raise at least $7,500 in order to get us to 250,000 liter pieces picked up & to cover the costs of becoming an official on-chain DAO.

🚮 We use Gitcoin Quadratic Funds to fund more litter pickups across the world! Each $1.00 funds another 25 pieces of litter being picked up and taken off of the streets.

🌊 Previous Gitcoin rounds have enabled us to pay people to pick up nearly 100,000 pieces of litter across the globe - we have also conducted large group pickups in Puerto Rico, Nigeria, Tanzania & Kenya with these funds.

ROADMAP

LESSONS LEARNED

💡 Our most recent lesson is to make our work less manual. For example, incorporating AI into our workflows has allowed us to quickly count and verify litter pickup submissions, saving the team a lot of time. Becoming an official on-chain DAO will help us digitally automate more of our workflow, freeing up time for us to focus more on fundraising and project improvements.

⏰ Our biggest focus is funding. We have no shortage of people who are eager to pick up litter in exchange for compensation. Instead, we must ensure that our fundraising efforts are faster than our efforts to pick up litter. We will continue to rely on the generosity of the Quadratic Funding community and we are also diversifying our funding sources by tapping into Corporate Donations and Grant Funding more.

📈 GHG Impact: The rough estimate of the greenhouse gas (GHG) impact from picking up 95,398 pieces of litter is approximately 46,507 kg of CO2 equivalents saved.
