Chore Wheel is a DAO platform for housing communities, providing tools for managing labor contributions, behavioral norms, and shared funds (see demo).
Implemented as a family of open-source Slack apps, Chore Wheel uses friendly chat-like interfaces and powerful mechanisms to engage residents in community self-governance. In continuous use for over two years, 2,000+ chores have been claimed through the platform since launch, and we continue to improve.
IMPACT: Chore Wheel reduces housing costs by enabling the cost-savings of coliving, without the corresponding increase in management costs. While coliving operators typically charge 10% plus a membership fee, Chore Wheel enables operators to charge 8% with no additional membership fee.
IMPACT: We have written popular science articles and published research demonstrating Chore Wheel's efficacy, which has been cited as part of the growing body of literature on "contributions systems" more widely.
IMPACT: We have demonstrated that web3-style digital governance mechanisms can be used by "real people" in the wild. Our users are not crypto-native and have little to no experience with self-governance.
Contributions will go towards development, education, and marketing to distribute the tools to more communities. We are a bootstrapped project; your support is invaluable.
