Welcome to AI Philly, where AI enthusiasts, researchers, and professionals in Philadelphia come together to explore the latest in artificial intelligence and machine learning. We're excited to introduce our new project for the GG21 DeSci Round: the Philadelphia AI Hack Night - Decentralized Science Initiative.
Monthly AI Hack Night: Fostering Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
Philadelphia AI Hack Night is a monthly meetup held on the last Monday of each month from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. This casual environment is perfect for sharing knowledge, collaborating on projects, and building together. Our AI Hack Night helps members of our community share their knowledge and experience with each other, with a focus on building. Our goal is to create a fair and equitable ecosystem for disseminating scientific knowledge through decentralized science (DeSci) principles.
Meet Our Dedicated Organizer and Supportive Community Members
- Michael Ghen: AI Philly Organizer, Adjunct Professor of Computer Science and former Instructor at UPenn for topics related to Python for Data Analysis & Machine Learning in Finance. He has 5 years of experience hosting events through Meetup, hosting over 300 events and his groups maintain 4.9 star ratings on the platform.
- AI Philly Members: Our members include research students, entrepreneurs, enthusiasts and professionals support us by bringing their knowledge and experience to our events. AI Philly is nothing without the support of our amazing members on Meetup.
Our Key Focus Areas and Community Goals
Our initiative focuses on:
- Developing a platform that supports scientific collaboration with respect to AI, this includes continuing to host events that feature speakers in our community
- Hosting events to onboard Philadelphians into the AI ecosystem and encourage knowledge sharing.
- Promoting open-source projects in AI and focus on advance DeSci and DePin related AI projects.
Addressing Challenges in the Scientific Ecosystem
The traditional scientific ecosystem faces challenges such as funding inequities, lack of transparency, and barriers to collaboration. Our initiative aims to address these issues by creating a platform, through our AI Hack Nights, that fosters collaboration and innovation. We believe this will make scientific progress more accessible and equitable.
Our Prior Work
We've already hosted 3 AI Hack Night events, each one larger than the next! Check out our past AI Hack Nights on Meetup:
We need your Support!
