Bloom Network empowers global grassroots impact with Web3 tools, enabling local environmental and economic actions. Features local DAO governance, skillshares, and a reputation-based rewards system.

🌍 Bloom Network helps people discover and spearhead grassroots impact actions where they live. With Web3 financial rails, local media feeds, and governance by Local DAOs, we empower people to start and grow impact projects from A to Z with the support of a passionate global community. https://bloomnetwork.earth

Current focus: bringing grassroots leaders on-chain while solving the critical funding gap to community-led economic development.

Bringing IRL Impactooors Onchain

👋🏽 We are 30 Local Bloom hubs across 11 countries, and 30,000+ people on the ground. We’ve jumpstarted over 7,000 local urban and agroecology farms worldwide, 400+ community enterprises, hundreds of watershed restoration structures, and built permanent foundations for regenerative cultures. Our members have deep knowledge of how to achieve climate adaptation and watershed restoration, with decades of experience building local economies.

Bloom Network represents innovation in funding and visibility for Indigenous and local-based initiatives running parallel on every continent, and puts the focus back on climate narratives where it is most useful to create long-term solutions: locally. Our social platform connects local efforts to volunteers that want to get involved in systems transformation, offers potential role suggestions to create a functional community, and represents a media outlet to fundraise and validate food transformation efforts. With the appropriate levels of funding, we will easily scale and replicate these food, water, and economic systems transformation efforts worldwide.

Bounties for Regenerative Actions

Bloom Network’s Bounties App was co-developed with Inverter Network. We make Web3 bounties usable by extremely non-technical users: farmers, community organizers, and non-digital artists.

With a user-friendly, image-rich reporting interface, Bloomers are guided to write an effective impact report about their local actions. Once verified, members receive a % of our grants pool, as well as FLO (Flowers), our reputation token for regenerative actions. A leaner form of the impact reports are automatically pushed to the project’s Karma GAP profile, easing the reporting burden for on-the-ground leaders.

From free seed distribution, to building a Waldorf school for a local decentralized ecovillage, the world can now see the cutting edge of grassroots community-led economic development that happens globally. These folks don’t get airtime on today’s media networks, but Bloom aggregates these stories into a network focused on communities leading the practical way forward through the metacrisis.

Results

  • 1 - Grassroots communities are receiving payment for work they’ve been doing on a largely voluntary basis.

  • 2 - They’re learning to document their impact more professionally to assist them in accessing more grants, and learning from each other in the process. Over 70 impact reports were posted in our first funding round.

  • 3 - Over 100 people were onboarded to web3 with a wallet and tangible, relevant experience for their first transactions. This is the start to their access to more DeFi tools that match the decentralized and collaborative way they work.

With 3/4 of our blockchain integrations complete, this is how Bloom Network acts as a kickstarter for circular bioregional economies!

90% of contributions to this grant go to our Local Action Rewards pool. 💧

Progress since the last OSS Grants Round:

  • Implemented Capsule wallet on Bloom’s social app, solving the barrier to entry to getting started with Web3.
  • Completed integration with Karma GAP, so Bloomers only have to post their update once and it automatically pushes to other reporting platforms.
  • Ran our first retroactive public goods funding round using our Local Action Rewards bounties approach, to distribute $15,600.
